A Hanover School Division school was placed in lockdown on September 10 after a parent allegedly threatened staff and became violent.

Steinbach RCMP say officers arrived around 11:45 a.m. to find a 43-year-old man still inside the school. He was arrested after reportedly shouting, making threats, and attempting to punch staff.

Police allege the man also threatened officers after his arrest. He is charged with assault and four counts of uttering threats.

The suspect was remanded in custody on September 11 and released the following day with conditions.

RCMP are not releasing the names of the suspect or the school, citing the involvement of a parent. The investigation is ongoing.
