Winnipeg police say a couple in their 70s and 80s were assaulted during a random home invasion on Meredith Bay in the Templeton neighbourhood on Monday evening.
At around 6:30 p.m., an unknown man entered the home, armed himself with a knife, punched the woman, and stabbed the man before fleeing. The woman was treated on scene, while the man was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.
Officers arrested an intoxicated suspect nearby and recovered a knife.
Ryan Chase George, 23, has been charged with break and enter to commit aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon. He remains in custody.
