The Winnipeg Humane Society, Feed the Furbabies Canada, and Veterinarians Without Borders North America are marking World Rabies Day this Sunday with a free pet health clinic.
The clinic on September 28 will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Valour Community Centre, 448 Burnell Street, offering free rabies, distemper, and parvo vaccinations for cats and dogs. Basic exams, flea and ear mite treatments for cats, and pet food from Feed the Furbabies will also be available while supplies last.
Last year’s event vaccinated more than 300 animals, and organizers expect a similar turnout.
“By offering a clinic in the heart of the community, we can increase access to care that not only benefits the health and well-being of the animals but their caretakers as well,” said Veronica Dueck, manager of the WHS One Health program.
