A 22-year-old man from Minitonas was seriously injured after his pickup truck collided head-on with a semi-trailer east of Dauphin early Saturday morning.

RCMP say a Ram pickup truck crossed the centre line on Highway 5, about one kilometre east of Highway 10, after the driver fell asleep. The semi was hauling two loads of bricks.

The pickup driver was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the 47-year-old semi driver from Winnipeg suffered only minor injuries.

Police say speed and alcohol were not factors. Dauphin RCMP and a traffic analyst are continuing the investigation.
