A 27-year-old man is facing multiple charges after a road rage altercation in downtown Winnipeg led to an assault and weapons seizure.
Police say the incident happened around 2:20 p.m. on Saturday, when the driver of a 2015 Audi A4 and the driver of a 2018 Infiniti Q50 got into a dispute at Broadway and Donald Street. The Audi driver allegedly punched the 35-year-old victim, then used brass knuckles to continue the assault before damaging the victim’s vehicle. The victim sustained minor injuries.
Officers later stopped the Audi at Fort Street and York Avenue, seizing a hunting knife, brass knuckles, 16 grams of crack cocaine, cell phones, and $1,100 in cash. The vehicle was impounded, and police say the suspect did not have a valid driver’s licence.
The man has been charged with assault with a weapon, drug trafficking, possession of crime proceeds, and other offences. He was released on undertakings pending future court dates.
Police remind drivers to remain calm and report road rage incidents rather than confront aggressive motorists.
