Three people are in custody after Manitoba RCMP say three women were held against their will and assaulted inside a Moose Lake residence on Sunday.
Police were called at around 8:10 a.m. by a 29-year-old woman who, along with two others aged 27 and 24, reported escaping after being detained and attacked. The victims told officers they were accused of stealing money by the home’s occupants, who allegedly searched and assaulted them. They also reported seeing machetes, bear mace, and a sawed-off shotgun inside the residence.
A search warrant for the same home was executed by officers, where they seized several weapons, ammunition, cash, and drug-related items.
Nine adults were arrested at the scene; five were later released without charge.
Two women, aged 28 and 31, along with a 33-year-old man, were arrested and charged.
A 40-year-old man was also charged with possession of property obtained by crime and released on an undertaking.
RCMP say the investigation is ongoing.
