A 45-year-old man is in custody after leading police on a pursuit through East Elmwood on Saturday night in a stolen pickup truck.

Winnipeg police say officers spotted a domestic incident around 8:55 p.m. in a parking lot on Regent Avenue and tried to block in a stolen Ford F-150. The driver accelerated toward an officer, who narrowly avoided being hit, before fleeing at high speed.

Air 1 tracked the truck as it sped through neighbourhood streets, driving onto sidewalks and green spaces. Officers later used a stop stick to disable the vehicle near Nottingham Avenue and Molson Street. The suspect then fled on foot and tried to break into a garage on Kent Road before being arrested with the help of a Taser.

No injuries were reported.

The man faces multiple charges, including assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, flight from police, dangerous driving, break and enter, and possession of property obtained by crime. He remains in custody.
