Two runaway horses caused a brief stir in Charleswood on Tuesday morning after trotting along Wilkes Avenue and stopping near a local high school.

Winnipeg police say officers, along with nearby residents, helped safely corral the animals before their owners arrived to take them home. The incident happened in an area where farmland meets residential streets, posing safety risks along the busy road and nearby rail line.

Both horses were unharmed, and officers managed to keep the situation under control with what police described as “a steady hand and a reassuring hug.”

No injuries were reported, and the horses are now safely back on their property.
