Winnipeg firefighters tackled two separate house fires across the city on Wednesday evening.

Crews were first called to a duplex in the 900 block of London Street at around 4 p.m. Smoke was visible when they arrived, and the fire was under control by 4:36 p.m. No one was hurt, and officials say unattended cooking is believed to be the cause.

Just after 6 p.m. the same evening, crews responded to a single-storey home in the 800 block of William Avenue. The fire was extinguished within 25 minutes, and all occupants escaped safely.

Both incidents remain under investigation, and damage estimates are not yet available.
