Manitoba welcomed a record 10.6 million visitors in 2024, who spent an unprecedented $1.89 billion across the province, according to Travel Manitoba’s annual report.

The numbers mark an increase from 2023, when 10.4 million visitors spent $1.82 billion.

While the province’s tourism industry is celebrating the milestone, officials caution that the record wildfire season this summer could affect growth in 2025.

Travel Manitoba reported strong results from its 2024–25 marketing campaigns, which generated $8.56 million in hotel and airline bookings and more than 182,000 sales leads for local tourism businesses.

“With every dollar invested in our leisure marketing campaigns, we are multiplying value for our industry partners and the economy,” said Travel Manitoba president and CEO Colin Ferguson.

“These results speak to the strength of our industry and the power of Manitoba’s iconic Canada’s Heart is Calling brand to meet the moment.”

Other highlights included a 34 percent rise in non-resident fishing licence sales, the launch of an AI-powered travel assistant called GuideGeek that fielded nearly 14,000 visitor questions, and a new partnership with Destination Canada and northern tourism agencies to promote Canada as a top destination for viewing the northern lights.
