Winnipeg police are searching for a woman who tried to steal a large TV from a retail store on Empress Street and threatened an employee with a knife before fleeing empty-handed.
The incident happened around 11 a.m. last Sunday. Police say the woman took a big-screen TV without paying, and when confronted outside, pulled a knife on a staff member. An off-duty officer shopping nearby used his cart to block the suspect, who dropped the TV and ran off. No one was hurt.
The suspect is described as a woman in her mid-20s with mid-length black hair, wearing a white jacket and black tights.
