Winnipeg police have arrested a 57-year-old woman linked to a months-long string of retail thefts across the city.
Officers were called on Thursday to a store in the 1400 block of Portage Avenue, where staff reported a woman tried to leave with about $575 worth of merchandise. She was stopped by employees and arrested without incident.
Police later determined the woman was already under investigation and connected to multiple thefts recorded on security cameras at several stores.
Police say the incidents include:
- Twelve thefts from the same Portage Avenue store between August 7 and November 24, totalling $3,147
- A $100 theft from a Vermillion Road business on September 2
- An $80 theft from a Sargent Avenue store on September 4
- A $103 theft from a Regent Avenue business on October 16
In total, retailers reported losses of more than $4,000.
Priscilla Anne Ross has been charged with theft under $5,000, along with four outstanding warrants covering 14 additional theft-under charges. She remains in custody.
