The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to two separate house fires Friday evening, with no injuries reported.

The first fire was reported just after 10 p.m. in the 900 block of Alfred Avenue. Crews arrived to find smoke and flames coming from a one-and-a-half-storey home. Firefighters launched an interior attack and brought the fire under control shortly after 11 p.m. No one was inside the home at the time.

Earlier in the evening, around 4:42 p.m., crews were called to a fire at a two-and-a-half-storey house in the 500 block of Mountain Avenue. Firefighters entered the home and extinguished the blaze, which was declared under control at 6:15 p.m. All occupants had evacuated safely, though one cat was found deceased inside the home.

The causes of both fires remain under investigation, and damage estimates were not immediately available.
