City of Winnipeg snow plows will begin making their rounds Sunday afternoon to clear streets, sidewalks and pathways.

The city received just under five centimetres of snow late Saturday into Sunday morning, but heavy wind gusts exceeding 50 km/h created drifting conditions, particularly in open areas.

Crews will plow based on the street priority system and be on the streets by noon.

Motorists are advised to drive to conditions and use extreme caution when near heavy equipment.

The annual winter route parking ban remains in effect, meaning there is no parking between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. on streets designated as winter routes. Those parked in violation may be ticketed and towed to the towing company’s compound.
