A Manitoba judge has found a man guilty in the killing of a Winnipeg restaurant owner in a 2024 assault.

Curtis Ross Dalebozik was found guilty of manslaughter and uttering threats on Thursday in connection with the death of 51-year-old Kyriakos Vogiatzak.

Vogiatzak was fatally assaulted outside of his restaurant, Cork & Flame, on Portage Avenue in January 2024.

Police say both men were involved in a physical altercation in the restaurant’s parking lot shortly before the assault. Vogiatzak was pushed to the ground and repeatedly assaulted until losing consciousness. He was transported to hospital in critical condition and later died.

Dalebozik, who was 38 at the time of the incident, will be sentenced at a later date.
