Winnipeg police have charged two men following a homicide in East Elmwood over the weekend.
Police were called to the 400 block of Keenleyside Street just after 5 p.m. on Saturday for a well-being check.
Officers found an injured 20-year-old man inside the residence. He was transported to hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.
The victim has been identified as Nikolas Bear, a member of Berens River First Nation who had been residing in Winnipeg.
Officers arrested 18-year-old Augustine Owen Bear at the scene, and later took 19-year-old Xaavier Xander Fiddler into custody in the 500 block of St. Mary’s Road.
Both men have been charged with manslaughter and aggravated sexual assault. They remain in custody.
