Winnipeg Transit riders can now track buses in near-real-time using GPS through the Navigo trip planner and the Winnipeg Transit app.
The new feature is also available on winnipegtransit.com and allows passengers to see live bus locations directly on a map as part of their trip search results.
“This is just one of many adjustments and improvements we’re making to help ensure people have the information they need to plan and confidently get where they need to be,” said Coun. Janice Lukes, chair of the city’s standing policy committee on public works.
On Navigo, users can view buses tied to immediate trip plans, explore routes to see vehicles currently in service, or check the next five buses heading to a selected stop. Clicking on a bus icon provides additional details, including how recently its location was updated.
Transit officials say the feature relies on GPS data. If a bus has not recently reported its location, it will not appear on the map.
The city says its GPS system, which experienced widespread issues last summer and fall, is now operating normally again.
