Three longtime lottery partners from southern Manitoba are celebrating after winning a $250,000 EXTRA prize in the February 7 LOTTO 6/49 draw.

Kelly Rowsell, her mother Marilyn Webster, both from Niverville, and their friend Judy Mager of Winnipeg have been buying lottery tickets together for years. The trio discovered their win when Webster scanned the ticket using the Lotto Spot app.

Rowsell said her mother initially believed the ticket was worth $250 before scanning it again and realizing the prize was much larger.

Still unsure, the group went to a store to verify the result using both the self-scanner and the lottery terminal, confirming they had won $250,000.

The friends already have plans for their shares of the prize. Rowsell hopes to take a trip to Italy with her daughter, Webster plans to visit family in Newfoundland, and Mager intends to buy a golf cart.

The winning ticket was purchased at a Shoppers Drug Mart on Pembina Highway in Winnipeg.
