A Winnipeg woman has been arrested following a months-long investigation into a string of retail thefts across the city that police say totalled more than $10,000.
The investigation began in May 2025 when police began looking into repeated shoplifting incidents at several stores throughout Winnipeg.
Police say a woman entered multiple retail locations between May and November 2025, selecting merchandise and leaving without paying. The thefts occurred at stores in the 800 and 1500 blocks of Regent Avenue West, the 1300 block of McPhillips Street, the 1600 block of Kenaston Boulevard, the 3600 block of Portage Avenue and the 1400 block of Plessis Road.
According to police, the stolen items included food and clothing, with individual incidents ranging from just over $100 to about $1,000. Many of the thefts occurred repeatedly at the same retail locations, particularly stores in the 1300 block of McPhillips Street and the 1500 block of Regent Avenue West.
Investigators say the incidents were captured on surveillance video and reported to police. The total value of stolen merchandise exceeded $10,000.
Francene Margaret Hudson, 37, was arrested on Monday. She has been charged with multiple offences and released pending a court appearance.
