Global apparel retailer UNIQLO is set to open its first Winnipeg location next month.
The new store, located at CF Polo Park, will officially open its doors at 10 a.m. on May 15. Spanning more than 18,000 square feet, the space will feature the brand’s LifeWear clothing line for men, women and children.
To mark the grand opening, UNIQLO has planned a weekend of festivities focused on community partnerships and in-store promotions. Events will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a taiko drumming performance by Hinode Taiko, and giveaways for early shoppers. The first 500 customers will receive a commemorative tote bag.
Visitors can also enjoy complimentary treats from local favourites Gunn’s Bakery and Little Sister Coffee Maker.
As part of the launch, UNIQLO is introducing a Winnipeg-inspired collection of T-shirts and tote bags featuring designs tied to local businesses and artwork by Canadian illustrator Jade Bern.
The retailer is planning to open a second location in the city later this year at St. Vital Centre.
