A 47-year-old man is dead after a canoe capsized on Long Body Creek near Bloodvein First Nation Friday afternoon.
Manitoba RCMP received a report of the incident at approximately 2:11 p.m. Officers and community safety officers were transported by boat to a riverbank about five kilometres upstream from Rice River Road with the assistance of a community volunteer, where they located a family of three.
The 47-year-old man went into medical distress after being removed from the water and died shortly after arriving at the local nursing station.
The two other occupants — a 44-year-old woman and a 12-year-old girl — suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital.
Bloodvein RCMP continue to investigate.
