Winnipeg firefighters responded to four house fires across the city over the past two days, with no injuries reported in any of the blazes.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was called to a vacant house fire in the 800 block of Stella Avenue at 5:18 p.m. on Tuesday, finding smoke and flames coming from the structure. Crews declared the fire under control at 7:11 p.m.
While responding to that fire, crews spotted a second blaze nearby at 5:26 p.m., also in the 800 block of Stella Avenue, and reported it to the 911 communications centre. That fire was declared under control at 5:49 p.m.
Both Stella Avenue fires remain under investigation.
On Wednesday morning, WFPS responded to a house fire in the 800 block of Alverstone Street at 8:27 a.m., finding heavy black smoke coming from the home. The fire was declared under control at 9:15 a.m. That fire also remains under investigation.
Later Wednesday, crews responded to a fire in the 100 block of Renfrew Street at 11:03 a.m., finding light smoke coming from the house. The fire was declared under control by 11:58 a.m. Preliminary observations suggest the fire may have been related to the home’s stove.
