Winnipeg police have charged four people and are searching for a fifth suspect following a string of catalytic converter thefts.
Police say the thefts occurred between April and June, with an uptick of reports in May.
With the help of video surveillance, police identified several suspects believed to be linked to the numerous thefts. In total, 13 victims were identified, with damages estimated at more than $20,000.
Tyrel Martin, 44, has been charged with four counts each of theft under $5,000 and mischief under $5,000, along with a warrant for failing to appear for identification. He was released on an undertaking.
A 51-year-old woman, a 36-year-old man and a 48-year-old man were also charged with multiple offences and have been released pending court appearances.
Police are asking for the public’s help locating 43-year-old Jay Heckert, who has an outstanding warrant for theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000 and failing to attend.
