Manitoba RCMP and search teams are continuing efforts to locate two boys who went missing in fast-moving rapids at Nutimik Lake in Whiteshell Provincial Park.

Lac du Bonnet RCMP received a report of a possible drowning near Sturgeon Falls Trail at 12:40 p.m. on Saturday. Officers, along with local fire and EMS crews, responded and learned that two boys, aged 10 and 13, had slipped into the rapids and had not resurfaced.

Manitoba RCMP’s underwater recovery team and the Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team were deployed to assist in the search.

Despite extensive patrols on the water and along the shorelines, aided by drones, neither boy has been located.

RCMP say the search was continuing as of Sunday afternoon.
