Fears of flooding in Brandon, Man., are receding, allowing crews to begin removing protective barriers.
That includes the super-sandbags, each of which can hold over a tonne of sand.
The city is also dismantling inflatable flood protections and cleaning up around homes that had flood barriers.
High water on the Assiniboine River peaked two weeks ago, on July 13, and has since retreated 1.7 metres.
Manitoba saw multiple floods in June and early July because of heavy rain, especially in the Parkland region.
The province is expanding the number of communities that can apply for help from its flood recovery program.
