Winnipeg firefighters rescued one person from a burning home in the North Point Douglas area early Monday.
Emergency crews were called to the one-and-a-half-storey residence in the 100 block of Granville Street just before 6 a.m. to find smoke coming from the structure.
Bystanders were trying to rescue an occupant from the home when crews arrived. Firefighters took over the rescue and removed the individual through a window.
Paramedics assessed and treated the rescued person at the scene before transporting them to hospital in stable condition. Paramedics also assessed a bystander with a minor injury, but they didn’t require transport to hospital.
No other injuries were reported, and the blaze was deemed under control by 6:44 a.m.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
