Two Ontario men are facing charges after Manitoba RCMP found approximately $50,000 in cash inside a semi-truck near Elie.

Officers stopped the eastbound semi on the Trans-Canada Highway on the afternoon of September 29. During the traffic stop, officers noticed a package of unmarked cigarettes on the dashboard and conducted a further search of the vehicle.

The cash was found in a package among groceries.

A 38-year-old Hannon, Ontario, man and a 53-year-old Mississauga, Ontario, man were arrested without incident and each face charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Both were released to appear in court in January.

RCMP continue to investigate.
