The Tango is a partner dance that originated in the 1880’s along the natural border between Argentina and Uruguay.

At this Folklorama pavilion, located at the Centro Caboto Centre (1055 Wilkes Avenue), you will get to witness this dynamic style of dance performed by talent that has travelled over 10,000 km from Buenos Aires to be at Folklorama.

In its seventh year as a pavilion at Folklorama, organizers of Spirit of Ukraine chose to celebrate the Ukrainian holiday of Ivana Kupala.

It originally started as an age-old pagan holiday during the summer solstice with many aspects revolving around water, fire and greenery.

As I took my seat at the final show of the evening at the Irish pavilion, I noticed a printed sheet listing fun facts about Irish pubs.

I chuckled when I discovered Folklorama’s Africa/Caribbean pavilion that celebrates countries known for being hot was taking place at a curling club.

The only ice in the Pembina Curling Club at 1341 Pembina Highway was in the rum punch, pina coladas and tropical ice cream.
