WINNIPEG — A Winnipeg bus driver was killed on the job by an angry passenger who refused to leave the vehicle at the end of a run, a Crown attorney said at the opening of a two-week second-degree murder trial.

Irvine Jubal Fraser, a 58-year-old driver working the late shift, was spat on and repeatedly stabbed after forcibly removing Brian Kyle Thomas from the bus, Crown attorney Keith Eyrikson told the jury Monday in his opening statements.

WINNIPEG — An overhaul to Winnipeg’s Handi-Transit service is coming in 2019, beginning with a new name.

Called Winnipeg Transit Plus, the new name reflects a more inclusive language for persons with disabilities, says the city.

Demolition of Train Bridge Making Way for Rapid Transit Expansion

WINNIPEG — The ongoing construction of the southwest rapid transitway will close northbound and southbound Pembina Highway between Jubilee Avenue and Stafford Street for two weekends this month.

The city says the closures, happening December 7-10 and December 14-17, are to accommodate the demolition of the CN bridge. Both closures will commence at 8 p.m. Friday and continue until 4 a.m. the following Monday.
