Schwartz Scores Late in Third Period, Blues Top Jets in Game 5 for 3-2 Lead

WINNIPEG — Jaden Schwartz scored with 15 seconds remaining in the third period, lifting the Blues to a 3-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday and handing St. Louis a 3-2 series lead in their Western Conference quarterfinal.

Ryan O’Reilly and Brayden Schenn also scored for the Blues, who host Game 6 of the best-of-seven series on Saturday. Jordan Binnington stopped 29 shots for St. Louis.

The capacity for Thursday’s Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party is being lowered to 11,000 after some incidents of unruliness last weekend.

Economic Development Winnipeg and True North Sports + Entertainment say the reduced capacity from 15,000 will allow for a more enjoyable fan experience on the streets.

WINNIPEG — Oskar Sundqvist only had two shots on net Friday, but he made the most of them.

The St. Louis forward scored twice to propel the Blues to a 4-3 victory over the Winnipeg Jets in Game 2 of their Western Conference opening-round playoff series.

WINNIPEG — Tyler Bozak scored with 2:05 left in the third period to give the St. Louis Blues a 2-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday in Game 1 of their Western Conference opening-round playoff series.

Blues forward Pat Maroon sent a backhand pass from behind the net out to Bozak in the slot, whose quick shot went by Winnipeg goalie Connor Hellebuyck.

NEW YORK — The Winnipeg Jets will begin their first-round Stanley Cup playoff series Wednesday while the Toronto Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames play their respective Game 1’s on Thursday.

The NHL announced the schedule for the first round Sunday morning.

Economic Development Winnipeg and True North Sports + Entertainment revealed details Monday, introducing a $5 fee and a maximum of four tickets per person. The street parties were free to attend last year and introduced a ticketing system halfway through the playoffs to get control on crowd sizes.

WINNIPEG — Shea Weber knows the Montreal Canadiens have a lot of fight left in them.

They showed that Saturday night by beating the Winnipeg Jets 3-1 to remain relevant in the race for a playoff spot.

“We’ve talked about this the whole time. We’re not giving up,” Weber, the Canadiens captain, said. “We’re not out yet. Six more points available for us. We’ll take the next game here and try to win that one and see what happens.”
