A two-month long investigation by Winnipeg police into organized crime has netted a significant drug and weapons seizure.

Officers executed a search warrant November 3 at a home in the first 100 block of Roslyn Road.

Brandon Store Clerk Punched in the Face Trying to Stop Shoplifter

Brandon Police Service CrestA clerk working at a Brandon store was punched in the face while a woman attempted to make off without paying for merchandise on Thursday.

Police say a female suspect entered the store in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue at around 11 a.m. While attempting to shoplift, she was apprehended by an employee, but was able to get away by striking the staff member.

Driver Owes $158K in Fines: ‘You Never Know What You’re Going to Find’

ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – Newfoundland police are calling it “extraordinary” — officers recently stopped a driver who owes $158,000 in unpaid fines.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says the 33-year-old man was allegedly caught driving with a suspended driver’s licence and no insurance on Thursday morning in St. John’s.

WINNIPEG – Immediately after a letter bomb exploded inside the small family-law firm where Maria Mitousis worked, she slumped in her doorway, covered in blood and begged a colleague not to leave her side.

“I heard a large bang and (there was) a scream, followed with a second scream,” Connie Petersen, managing partner at the Petersen King law firm in Winnipeg told a courtroom Wednesday.

WINNIPEG – Shortly after an explosion at a law firm that cost lawyer Maria Mitousis her right hand, members of Winnipeg’s bomb squad looked for other potential explosives as well as small body parts such as fingers that could be recovered for Mitousis’ surgery, two officers testified Monday.
