The Royal Winnipeg Ballet is having a downtown dance party today. And everyone is invited!
As part of Sharing Dance Day 2016, the RWB is putting on free activities outside its building between 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
The free event is a promotion for the nationwide movement celebrating dance, including the ability to improve access to quality dance programs to those who need it most.
During this time, Edmonton Street between Portage Avenue and Graham Avenue will be temporarily closed from noon until 3:30 p.m. Pedestrian access will be maintained, but motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes.
Local dancers will get the chance to show off their skills in front of professionals at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School in the new year.
The RWB is holding auditions on Sunday, January 24 for all three of its training programs: the ballet academic program for students in grades 6 to 12, and RWB School’s two graduate programs, the aspirant program and the teacher training program.
Students who auditions are doing so to enter the RWB School Professional Division summer session (July 2016) in Winnipeg, which serves as the audition phase for acceptance into the regular session (September 2016).
