Man Robbed at Knifepoint Trying to Sell Phone Online

Winnipeg Police CrestWINNIPEG — A man trying to sell his cell phone that he had listed online was robbed of his property at knifepoint on Thursday afternoon.

Winnipeg police say the victim contacted them to report he was in the 500 block of Atlantic Avenue to meet a potential buyer who had entered his vehicle. The suspect took out a machete-style knife and demanded property from the victim, who complied and then fled his own vehicle. The victim wasn’t injured.

Winnipeg police have charged a 25-year-old man with robbing a convenience store twice and then attempting to steal a woman’s vehicle.

Officers were called Tuesday to the 100 block of Salter Street at 10 p.m. for a report of a convenience store having just been robbed.

WINNIPEG — Emergency officials are warning the public to be cautious of thin ice and to stay off waterways.

Polic, firefighters and paramedics say as temperatures drop, ice surfaces are thin and fragile. Falling into ice-cold water can turn deadly in a matter of minutes.
