Police say the officer was in a business in the 1900 block of Bishop Grandin Boulevard on October 30 when he noticed one of three suspicious men as having an outstanding warrant. Officers attended and determined all three were wanted.

Regina police charged Stephen Vogelsang on Friday with three separate bank robberies in that city.

Police in Regina were investigating the homicide of Daniel Richard Dipaolo, 51, when they were led to three suspects in Winnipeg.

Regina Man Killed in Southern Manitoba Crash

RCMP Crest LogoA 39-year-old man from Regina has died after a single-vehicle crash near St. Lazare, Manitoba.

The rollover happened at around 9:50 p.m. Thursday on Highway 41 about five kilometres south of the community.

RCMP say the northbound vehicle lost control and rolled off the roadway, ejecting the passenger.

The 29-year-old driver, a man from Rocanville, Saskatchewan, suffered non-life threatening injuries. His passenger was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Regina Folk FestivalOrganizers of the Regina Folk Festival are reaching over the provincial border to attract Manitobans this year.

Running August 8-10, the festival brings out up to 35,000 attendees of all ages and 600+ volunteers for three days and nights each year.

“Manitobans who love the Winnipeg Folk Festival might also want to take in the Regina Folk Festival,” a news release said. With that in mind, a contest is open to all residents of the prairie provinces age 19 and over to win the Great Regina Folk Festival Sound Escape prize package.

Winnipeg Rowers Impress at Sprints Regatta in Regina

Members of the Winnipeg Rowing Club came away victorious at the 37th Western Canada Sprints Regatta in Regina this past weekend.

The competition drew 279 rowers from Winnipeg, Regina, Kenora, Saskatoon, Calgary and Edmonton. WRC sent a team of 34 athletes to compete in junior, open and master events.

“Our athletes did a tremendous job,” said WRC head coach Steven Taylor. “It was a very successful regatta, and a great kick-off to the 2014 rowing season.”

Stolen Regina Vehicle Ends Up in Winnipeg

Winnipeg Police CrestA car that was stolen in Regina last Saturday ended up in Winnipeg, where police eventually arrested the driver after a chase.

The Toyota Corolla was spotted by police early Tuesday morning driving erratically in the area of Mountain Avenue and Salter Street. The driver refused to stop and eventually collided with a taxicab while travelling at a high rate of speed near the Arlington Bridge. No one was injured in the crash, but damage was caused to both vehicles.

The suspect fled on foot, but was tracked down by the canine unit to a home on Alfred Avenue.

Skyler Alexson, 20, faces numerous charges and remains in custody.
