CTV Saves One Station, Leaves CKX-TV to Close

After Shaw Communications said last week that they would not be going through with the transaction to buy three CTVglobemedia stations, one of them has since been saved.

Windsor’s A-Channel will be on the air for another year — August 31, 2010 to be exact. The station is benefiting from the announcement made on July 6 by the CRTC to increase funding to local television programming. As for the Wingham station, it will be converted to a rebroadcast of London’s A-Channel.

But the one station that matters the most to those in western Manitoban, particularly in Brandon, is CKX-TV. CTVglobemedia didn’t announce any plans to save that station, and unless something drastic happens, the lights will go out on August 31.
