MTS customers will get a treat when Manitoba’s largest wireless carrier begins selling the Apple iPhone 4 in the “coming months.”
In a brief news release Thursday, MTS didn’t provide many details about the launch, only to give a background on the phone itself.
Customers have been waiting patiently for the company to begin selling the device. Currently, only Rogers and Fido offer the iPhone in the province.
The debut of Apple’s smartphone will likely coincide with the launch of MTS’ HSPA network on March 31, which will handle newer devices at a faster speed. However, no definite date has been given.
No prices or information on data plans were released.
When reached for comment, a spokesperson for MTS told ChrisD.ca, “At this time, we are not providing any further details on today’s announcement. As I am sure you can appreciate, the wireless market in Manitoba is very competitive and as a matter of course, we don’t comment on our product roadmap and plans.”
The announcement from MTS comes on the same day Verizon launches the iPhone on their network in the U.S., rivaling competitor AT&T, who had exclusivity on the device until recently.
