Anglers are being encouraged to remove their fishing shacks from lakes and rivers in Manitoba.
The province advised Thursday that all shacks should be removed from the ice in southern and central Manitoba as soon as possible, as long as it’s safe to do so.
Normally shacks can remain until March 31, but mild temperatures have cut the ice fishing season short this year. Shacks were to be removed from the Red River by March 13.
Those who don’t remove their shacks could be issued a fine by Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship.
