The St. Andrews Lock and Dam closed for the season to marine vessels at midnight on Sunday until next spring.

Staff have started to raise the dam’s control curtains, resulting in water levels in the Red and Assiniboine rivers, in Winnipeg, and north to Lockport to gradually lower over the next two weeks. Should winter conditions set in, the curtains will be completely lifted as required.

Owners of vessels, barges and all property on the Red and Assiniboine rivers and their tributaries are advised to protect their property.
