The Planetarium at the Manitoba Museum has added two evening shows of its “Ancient Skies, Ancient Mysteries” program.
The additional shows will run on Friday, December 21, the day the current Mayan calendar ends. Ancient Skies delves into the Mayan prophesy that says the world will end on December 21, 2012. Several other astronomical events will also take place on this day.
“This show really explains what the Mayans knew about time, and what their ‘prediction’ really is: the end of a calendar cycle, not the end of the world,” said Scott Young, the museum’s manager of science communications and visitor experiences.
Both shows are scheduled for 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
