New Year’s revellers can once again ride Winnipeg Transit for free this year.
Transit and Manitoba Public Insurance have partnered up to offer the free service, which applies to all regular and Handi-Transit rides beginning at 7 p.m. on December 31.
“All too often we encounter impaired drivers who tell us they had no choice but to drive. We know that is not true,” said Winnipeg Police Staff Sergeant Rob Riffel.
“This program provides another safe alternative to this dangerous decision to drive impaired.”
The last bus will leave downtown at approximately 1:35 a.m.
Last year, more than 15,000 people chose to take Winnipeg Transit on New Year’s Eve.
