Red River Co-op Pays Out $28.3M to Members

Red River Co-op members are finding a nice surprise in their mailboxes this time of year.

The Winnipeg-based co-operative is paying out $28.3 million to its members for the 2017 fiscal year in the form of more than 280,000 cheques.

The payback is 6.82 percent on fuel purchases, five percent on pharmacy items and two percent on food transactions.

Members over the age of 65 can apply to have 100 percent of their equity repaid to them in cash. Once approved, they will receive their full annual allocation in cash each and every year.

Red River Co-op operates 35 gas bars, five cardlocks, three food stores and a standalone pharmacy in Winnipeg and the surrounding areas of Selkirk, Stonewall, Teulon, Gimli, Ste. Agathe, Niverville, Oakbank, Headingley, Kenora and Dryden.
