For its 31st year, the Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival set an impressive box office revenue record to close out its annual run.
Organizers said Monday that indoor ticketed attendance totalled $103,251 with 245 sold-out performances and $890,624 in box office revenue. The total revenue represents a 1.75% increase over last year.
“With perfect Fringing weather for most of the festival, we were extremely pleased to see so many Fringers out enjoying the incredibly entertaining shows indoors and in Old Market Square,” said festival producer Chuck McEwen.
“Thanks to the fantastic support of our Fringe fans, we’re pleased to return a record total of box office revenue to the talented and hard-working artists. The festival goes by so quickly and we can’t wait to do it all again next summer.”
The festival featured 178 companies with 1,516 total indoor performances and 178 indoor companies. Outdoor attendance totalled approximately 75,000-80,000.
The 2019 Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival will run from July 17 to 28.
