An early Christmas present came to football fans on Thursday as the CFL released its 2019 schedule.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will kick off the regular season in Vancouver against the BC Lions on Saturday, June 15. The team will return to Investors Group Field for their home opener on June 27 against the Edmonton Eskimos.
The CFL has the Bombers playing an equal amount of Thursday and Friday night games, but not before the club’s pre-season tilts on May 31 hosting the Eskimoes and June 6 against the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Regina.
“We’re very happy to be able to offer our fans a great mix of Thursday and Friday evening games in the coming year, specifically in the summer where all of our games kickoff at 7:30 p.m.,” said Blue Bombers president and CEO Wade Miller.
The annual Labour Day Classic will be September 1 in Regina and the Banjo Bowl held a week later on September 7 at IGF.
