The Winnipeg Jets have signed JC Lipon to a $700K, one-year, two-way contract.
Lipon spent the last few seasons on the Winnipeg Jet’s farm team in the AHL, the Manitoba Moose. Last season, the right winger collected 26 points with 11 goals and 15 assists – and he spent 121 penalty minutes in the bad boy box.
Originally from Regina, Lipon has been an alternate captain for the Moose.
There was speculation the forward would become a Group VI unrestricted free agent. The 25-year-old Lipon qualifies. He’s been under one-year contracts with the Winnipeg Jets since 2013, and he’s seen less than 80 NHL games. During the 2015/2016 seasons, he played nine Jets games – garnering one assist.
Lipon was selected by the Jets in the third round (91st overall) in the 2013 NHL Draft.
