WINNIPEG — Seven Oaks General Hospital‘s ER will become an urgent care centre on July 22.

It’s the latest shift from an emergency department being made as part of the provincial government’s health-care system overhaul.

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority says the centre will continue to operate 24/7 and be staffed to treat patients arriving either via ambulance or on a walk-in basis for treatment of urgent, but non-life-threatening, health concerns.

A public awareness campaign surrounding the transition will begin this week and continue until September.

The ER at Concordia Hospital recently shifted to an urgent care centre on June 3 after previously being slated to close completely.
