The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ unveiled a new, refreshed look on Thursday.
At its annual general meeting, BIZ CEO Kate Fenske said the new brand identity reflects a fresh optimism and confidence in Winnipeg’s downtown.
“Today, there’s more to see, do, enjoy and explore in downtown Winnipeg than at any point in the past three decades, but there’s still work to do,” Fenske said.
“Our job now is building on the momentum, energy and investment that continue to revitalize our downtown, while also putting renewed focus on priorities like safety, cleanliness and inclusion.”
A recent BIZ survey of more than 3,000 Winnipeggers found the top priorities of the city’s downtown continue to be making it active, vibrant and energized. Enhancing programs and advocacy to improve safety and address challenges such as homelessness, addictions and mental health were also top of mind.
Some 78 percent of respondents said Downtown Watch Ambassadors made them feel safer downtown, while more than 88 percent said the BIZ plays an important role in making downtown Winnipeg a better place.
“We’re hearing a renewed confidence that our downtown’s best days will be the ones still to come,” added BIZ board chair Diana Wiesenthal.
The BIZ said investment across downtown continues to grow, while downtown festivals and events continue to break all-time attendance records.
