WINNIPEG — The first group of dogs rescued by the province on August 1 is now ready to find their forever homes.
After just over two weeks of care, the Winnipeg Humane Society is opening adoptions for dogs that are healthy and old enough to be rehomed.
“We’re deeply grateful to the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian-Animal Welfare, our dedicated staff, volunteers, and partners for their hard work and dedication to getting these dogs ready for their new life,” said Jessica Miller, CEO of the WHS.
Many of the small-breed dogs will undergo spay or neuter procedures at the WHS clinic before adoption. Additionally, some dogs will be transferred to partner rescue organizations to help alleviate the strain on WHS resources and reach a wider audience of potential adopters, ensuring that more dogs find homes quickly.
Adoptions at the WHS will be on a first-come, first-served basis at 45 Hurst Way.
