The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) is investing more than $8 million to expand high-speed fibre Internet access to 16 rural communities in Manitoba.

The initiative is part of the CRTC’s Broadband Fund, launched in 2019, aimed at connecting rural, remote, and Indigenous communities across Canada.

Westman Communications Group will construct approximately 310 kilometres of fibre infrastructure to enhance reliable internet service.

Further funding announcements are expected as the CRTC continues to assess applications.
