Cricket enthusiasts in Winnipeg’s Waverley West neighbourhood will soon have two new places to play the popular sport.

Construction is nearly finished on two cricket pitches, one for youth and one for adults, set to be ready by spring 2025.

The youth pitch is located at Chancellor Park on Markham Road, while the adult pitch is at Bridgwater Lakes Park on Bridge Lake Drive. Both pitches feature premium artificial turf and site grading improvements.

The total budget for the two pitches is $207,500, funded by contributions from federal, provincial, and city governments, along with a $35,000 contribution from the South Winnipeg Community Centre.

While construction is expected to be complete later this month, both pitches will officially open to the public in the spring.
