Winnipeg’s Prairie Theatre Exchange has announced that Ann Hodges will be the company’s new artistic director.
Hodges, a Winnipeg-based director with over 30 years of experience in theatre, musicals, and opera across Canada, has long-standing ties to PTE, having directed 16 productions for the company, including acclaimed works such as “The Birds and the Bees” and “Butcher.”
Hodges’ impressive career includes work on nearly every professional stage in Winnipeg and recent international experience in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. She is also a seasoned dramaturg, supporting new works for renowned organizations such as The Blyth Festival, Charlottetown Festival, and Vancouver Opera.
In addition to her directing work, Hodges is a frequent instructor and has contributed to the Winnipeg arts community as a board member for the Winnipeg Arts Council and the Manitoba Association of Playwrights.
“I feel like I’ve won the artistic director lottery! I’ve long admired Ann as an artist and an all-around good human being,” said PTE managing director Katie Inverarity.
“I’m so excited to get started on this journey together. We have much work to do, but I know that with the support of the team and the community around us and of each other, we will flourish.”
Hodges, who studied directing at the National Theatre School, will begin her new role on November 4.
